decorative cake with chocolate curd filling – something different

Sift flour into a bowl. Add sugar, butter, rum, and almonds. Knead the ingredients into a smooth dough. Roll out two-thirds of the dough onto the greased base of a springform pan, then press the remaining dough onto the pan to create a 4cm high edge. Prick the base with a fork. Drain the cherries. Mix the quark with the sugar, vanilla sugar, eggs, and custard powder. Fold in half of the cherries, setting the remaining cherries aside for garnishing. Spread the mixture evenly over the dough. Bake at 160°C for 50 minutes at a fan oven. Remove from the springform pan and allow to cool. Halve any remaining cherries. Whip the cream with the cream stiffener and vanilla sugar until stiff and fill into a piping bag. Alternately place half a cherry and a dollop of cream on the surface of the cake.
