Baked and filled ham rolls with sauerkraut

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 slice(s) ham, cooked
  • 400 g sauerkraut, cooked
  • 6 slice(s) Gouda , for gratinating
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp mustard, medium hot
  • 50 ml Pils
  • salt and pepper
  • n. B. Caraway
  • n. B. Paprika powder, sweet
  • some butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

A rustic meal – also suitable for a party buffet.

Peel and finely chop the onion. Sauté in heated butter until translucent. Add the squeezed, cooked sauerkraut to the onions and cook for 4-5 minutes. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds. Brush the ham slices with mustard, top with the sauerkraut, and roll up tightly. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Grease a shallow, ovenproof dish well and place the ham rolls next to each other. Place the cheese slices on top and pour in the beer. Bake the rolls until golden brown in about 15 minutes. Sprinkle the rolls with paprika and serve. Mashed potatoes or fried potatoes are suitable as a side dish.
