Homemade Fried Ancient Cabbage

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ½ cabbage
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 bell peppers, red
  • 2 tbsp sherry vinegar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sambal oelek
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 3 tbsp peanut oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Remove the wilted leaves from the cabbage, then quarter the cabbage and remove the stalk. Wash and drain the cabbage, then cut into thin strips. Clean the spring onions and slice into small rings. Clean the onion and garlic cloves and dice them finely. Halve the bell peppers, remove the seeds and white flesh, rinse, and slice into strips. Mix the sherry vinegar, soy sauce, sambal oelek, and cornstarch to make a sauce. Heat the pan and add the peanut oil. Briefly sauté the onion and garlic, then add the cabbage and fry until the cabbage collapses. Add the spring onions and bell pepper strips and fry briefly. Pour the sauce over the dish and mix well, season to taste, and then serve.
