Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 ½ kg white asparagus
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 tsp butter
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes
Peel the asparagus thoroughly and trim off any woody ends. Trim the asparagus spears to the same length, if possible. Bundle the asparagus into portions with kitchen string (6-8 asparagus spears per person). Bring two liters of water to a boil with sugar, butter, lemon juice, and salt. Add the asparagus bundles, bring to a boil briefly, then cover and cook over medium heat for 10-13 minutes (depending on the thickness of the spears). Remove the asparagus, drain well, and serve.
