quick, tasty, healthy
Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage, cut out the stalk, and cut the cabbage into fairly fine strips. Finely chop the onion. Heat a little oil in a pan, then sauté the finely chopped onion over medium heat until translucent, add the cabbage, and sauté gently. It can all take on a little color. Finally, add the finely diced bacon and sauté gently (amount according to your taste, and whether you’re adding other meat). Pour in half a liter of water, season with salt, pepper, and caraway seeds (if you don’t like caraway seeds, you can also use a stock cube, then reduce the salt). Let everything simmer for 5 minutes. Now peel the potatoes, cut them into small cubes, add them to the cabbage, and simmer for another 15 minutes. Season to taste with a little salt. The quantities are all approximate; I always cook it a little by taste. You can easily add some meat, such as diced smoked pork or cooked ham (add about 5 minutes before the end of cooking), and then reduce the salt a bit if necessary. As a simple main course, this amount is enough for 2-3 people.
