Fried sage leaves

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 24 sage leaves
  • 125 g flour
  • 125 ml wheat beer
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt
  • 1 lemon(s)
  • Oil or fat for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Separate the egg. Stir the flour, beer, egg yolk, oil, and a pinch of salt into a smooth batter. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the beer batter. Dip the sage leaves into the beer batter and fry in 160°C (320°F) fat until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper and serve lukewarm, drizzled with a little lemon juice. Enjoy as a snack between meals or as a “greeting from the kitchen” to start the meal.
