Lukewarm cinnamon cherries

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 750 g cherry(s), frozen
  • 100 ml cherry juice
  • 150 ml red wine
  • 2 tbsp raw cane sugar
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 pinch of gingerbread spice
  • 2 tsp cornstarch

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Heat the cherries with their juice, red wine, sugar, and spices (except the gingerbread spice) in a saucepan and simmer gently for 10 minutes. Stir the cornstarch with a little juice until smooth, thicken the cherries with it, bring to a brief boil, set aside, and let cool to lukewarm. Remove the cinnamon stick and star anise and season with the gingerbread spice. If children are sharing the dish, or if you don’t want to use alcohol, prepare the cherries with just the juice.
