Fiery apple compote with chili peppers

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 kg apples
  • 10 chili pepper(s), red, fresh or dried, more or less
  • 200 g sugar, less if necessary
  • some lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 3 hours

Peel the apples and core them. Cut the apples into chunks and place them in a bowl with water and lemon juice to prevent them from turning brown. Place the apples in a saucepan with a little water, the sugar, and the chili peppers. Cook until the apples begin to break down. Transfer the compote to a bowl and let it cool. Remove the chili peppers or leave them in, as desired.
