Sweet millet casserole with cherries

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 jar morello cherries
  • 375 ml milk
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 2 pieces egg white
  • 250 g quark, low-fat
  • 150 g millet
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Ideal for children, as a dessert or main meal

Rinse the millet with hot water. Then bring to a boil with the milk and let it swell over low heat for 20-25 minutes. Then let it cool. Drain the cherries. Mix the quark with the sugar and lemon juice and fold in the millet. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold in the beaten egg whites. Grease a baking dish, mix the cherries with the vanilla sugar and spread it on the base. Spread the millet mixture on top and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (convection oven) or 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 30-35 minutes. Serve with vanilla sauce or vanilla ice cream for dessert.
