Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 300 g mixed berries, unsweetened (frozen)
- 50 ml port wine, red or alternatively: red grape juice
- 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
- 1 clove(s)
- 1 lemon peel
- some vanilla pod(s)
- 2 tbsp Amaretto (for adults only – omit for children)
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- some water

Heat the frozen berry mixture in a large saucepan with the cinnamon bark, cloves, and vanilla pod. Deglaze with the port wine or grape juice. Simmer gently for another 8-10 minutes. Remove the spices (cinnamon bark, cloves, lemon peel, and vanilla pod) and pour in the liqueur (adults only!). Dissolve the cornstarch in a little water and use it to thin the berry mixture to the desired consistency. Tastes great with desserts, creams, ice cream, etc.
