Soaked Orange Cake
The perfect soaked orange cake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 250 g Soft butter
- 150 g Sugar
- 1 pinch Salt
- 4 Eggs
- 300 g Spelled flour type 630
- 2 tsp Baking powder
- 50 ml Milk
- 2 Oranges untreated
- 150 g Sifted powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp Water
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees (fan oven: 160 degrees). Mix the butter with sugar (save a tablespoon of sugar for the zest) with salt until foamy. Gradually add the eggs. Mix the flour with the baking powder, stir in alternately with the milk. Wash oranges with hot water and pat dry. Rub the zest of one orange and add to the batter. Fill the batter into a greased loaf tin (25 + 11cm). Bake the cake in the lower third for about 60 minutes.
- In the meantime, peel thin strips of peel from the rest of the orange (e.g. with a zest zipper) toss in a little sugar, set aside and squeeze both oranges. After baking, let the hot cake cool in the loaf pan. Pour half of the orange juice over it. Wait 10 minutes, then pour the remaining juice on top. Let the cake cool in the tin, remove.
- Mix the icing sugar and water with a topping and brush the cake with it. Garnish with sugared orange zest and let the icing set.
