A special kind of yeast plait

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g flour (wheat flour)
  • 1 pack of yeast
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 250 ml cream, lukewarm
  • 150 g raisins or sultanas

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

Sift the flour into a bowl, mix thoroughly with the yeast, and add the sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, 2 eggs, 1 egg white, and the cream. Knead everything thoroughly and let it stand in a warm place until it has doubled in size. Then knead in the raisins and divide the dough into 3 pieces. Braid the yeast plait (or choose another shape). Let the plait rise once more and then brush with a mixture of egg yolk and milk. Bake at 175-200 degrees Celsius for about 35 minutes. The secret here is actually the cream; it makes the cake super light and moist.
