Adria's fish cakes in paprika and cucumber sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g cod fillet(s)
  • 2 onions
  • 2 slices of toast
  • 1 egg(s)
  • ½ pack of herbs (8-herb mix, frozen)
  • 30 g butter, margarine or good oil
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 250 ml milk, or more
  • 2 gherkins
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • 1 bunch of dill
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 red bell pepper(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Wash the fish fillet, cut into pieces, and puree. Finely dice the onions, finely grate the bread, and mix with the fish, egg, herbs, onions, salt, and pepper. Form flat patties and fry in hot fat until golden brown. Remove from the pan and keep warm. Dust the pan juices with flour and sweat briefly. Deglaze with milk. Coarsely grate the gherkins and finely slice the bell pepper. Add both to the sauce, let it simmer for 5 minutes, and season to taste. Finely chop the dill. Arrange the patties with the sauce on a platter and sprinkle with dill. Serve with boiled or boiled potatoes and a crisp green salad.
