Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 12 slices of toast
  • 6 slice(s) ham, cooked
  • 1 small jar artichoke hearts, pickled
  • 6 anchovy fillets
  • 1 mozzarella
  • 125 ml milk
  • 3 eggs
  • some flour
  • pepper
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Pandorato

Remove the crusts from the bread. Rinse the anchovies with clean water and pat dry. Chop the artichokes and anchovies very finely. Cut the mozzarella into 6 slices. Top each of 6 slices of bread with a slice of ham, a portion of the artichoke/anchovy mixture, and a slice of mozzarella. Place the other slices of bread on top and press down firmly. Place the sandwiches in the milk, first on one side and then on the other. Dust with a little flour. Beat the eggs well, season with pepper, and pour onto the bread. Turn the bread over several times and let rest for about 10-15 minutes. Fry the bread in hot oil until dark brown on both sides, seasoning if desired. If you like, you can add a little basil or sage to the filling.
