Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 400 g pasta (small macaroni or Swiss Älpli Magronen)
  • 400 g potatoes, diced
  • 200 g cheese (Gruyère), grated
  • 200 g cream
  • 4 onions, or more
  • 50 g butter
  • 400 g applesauce
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Swiss Alpine specialty

Cook the pasta and diced potatoes together in salted water until al dente and drain. Bring the cream and grated cheese to a boil until the cheese has melted. Then stir into the pasta and potatoes. Slice the onions into rings, half rings, or dice them and fry them in butter until golden brown. Serve the pasta, potato, and cheese sauce mixture on plates and sprinkle with the roasted onions. Serve the apple sauce separately in small bowls.
