Amarena Cherries La Maria

The perfect amarena cherries la maria recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 350 g Fresh sweet cherries
  • 250 g Sugar
  • 4 cl Amaretto
  • 1 Pc. Lemon
  • 1 Pc. Vanilla pod
  1. Pit the cherries (remaining approx. 300 g), place in a saucepan with the sugar and heat carefully.
  2. Add about half a lemon juice and a glass of amaretto. The cooking juice forms immediately, simmer it carefully and add another glass of amaretto. Add the vanilla pulp. Let simmer carefully for 1 minute!
  3. Now you can taste, but be careful! The crowd is very hot! Add some acid or schnapps or both according to your own taste.
  4. Put the cherries with the juice in not too large screw-top jars. Close the glasses and let them cool upside down. Now the jars are tightly closed. Bon appetito !! With ice cream or pudding – a pleasure!
