Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g sugar
  • 100 g margarine
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 400 ml milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • ½ tsp, leveled baking soda
  • 1 ½ packets of baking powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 500 g flour
  • 250 g powdered sugar
  • Water
  • 100 g milk chocolate coating

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 42 minutes

without hartshorn salt, for 12 pieces

Beat margarine and sugar until fluffy. Mix baking soda with lemon juice and add to the sugar mixture along with egg, salt, and milk; stir. Mix flour with baking powder and add to the milk mixture. Mix everything together to form a dough. Using two tablespoons, evenly distribute the dough onto two baking sheets lined with baking paper, making small mounds. It is important to leave plenty of space between them, as the American cookies spread out considerably. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 10-12 minutes. Allow to cool thoroughly after baking. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little water and spread over the American cookies. Instead of icing, you can also melt chocolate coating and spread it over the American cookies.
