Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • 900 g minced beef
  • 220 g onion(s), chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 475 ml ketchup
  • 235 ml sauce (barbecue sauce)
  • 55 g brown sugar
  • 60 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs (thyme, oregano, rosemary, marjoram), mixed
  • Salt and pepper, black
  • Oil for frying
  • 12 rolls (hamburger buns)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Heat a pan over medium heat. Brown the ground meat, onions, and garlic in the oil over medium heat, stirring occasionally (so the ground meat becomes crumbly). Drain any liquid. Now add the ketchup, barbecue sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, mustard, Italian herbs, and pepper, stir to combine, and simmer gently over low heat for 20 minutes. Then fill the hamburger buns and serve.
