Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 455 g minced beef
  • 165 g onion(s), chopped
  • 150 g bell pepper(s), green, finely chopped
  • 15 g cane sugar
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 235 ml ketchup
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 1 pinch of clove powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 rolls (hamburger buns

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

American recipe

Heat oil in a large pan. Mix the ground beef with the diced onion and bell pepper, then fry until lightly browned. Drain off any excess fat. Stir in the sugar, vinegar, ketchup, mustard, clove powder, and salt, and simmer uncovered over medium heat for 30 minutes. Cut open the hamburger buns and fill them with the ground beef mixture! This is a truly American recipe. I got my taste for these “Sloppy Joes” from the movie “One and One Makes Four.” Footnote: If you want to double the recipe, don’t double the vinegar!
