delicious coffee biscuits from Greece, makes about 40 pieces

Whisk the egg with oil, sugar, and vanilla sugar until frothy. Crush the anise in a mortar and pestle and stir in. Mix the baking powder with the flour, sift it onto the egg mixture, and stir in. If the dough is too stiff, stir in a little milk. Shape the dough into a log and chill for one hour. Cut the log into about 40 slices and shape each into a finger-thick roll with pointed ends (like potato dumplings). Bake the cookies on a baking sheet at 180°C for about 15 minutes until light brown.
