Apple Buttermilk Cake

The perfect apple buttermilk cake recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • For the dough:
  • 250 g Flour
  • 250 Milliliters Buttermilk
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 2 Free range eggs
  • 2 packet Vanilla sugar
  • For covering:
  • 3 Apples
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • For the sprinkles:
  • 175 g Flour
  • 75 g Sugar
  • 30 g Ground almonds
  • 2 Knife tips Cinnamon
  • 100 g Cold butter
  1. In a bowl, beat the butter, sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy. Add the buttermilk and stir in. Mix the flour with the baking powder and stir in spoonfuls. Pour the dough into the prepared springform pan and smooth it out.
  2. Remove the core from the apples and cut into cubes. Spread the apple cubes on the dough and sprinkle with a little cinnamon sugar.
  3. Use the flour, sugar, almonds, cinnamon and the cold butter in a bowl to make crumbles, then spread the crumbles over the apple cubes.
  4. Place the cake in the oven preheated to 180 degrees and bake for about 45-50 minutes. (Chopsticks sample) Take out of the oven after the baking time, remove the edge of the springform pan immediately and let the cake cool.
