Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg apples, not too ripe, preferably green, sour
  • 250 g onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 375 ml wine vinegar
  • 500 g sugar
  • 3 tbsp mustard seeds, ground
  • 2 tbsp ginger, freshly grated or powdered
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 250 g sultanas

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples. Peel and finely chop the onions and garlic, then add all three ingredients to a large saucepan. Add the vinegar, sugar, mustard flour, ginger, and cayenne pepper and simmer in an uncovered pan over a low heat for 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Then add the sultanas and simmer for another 15 minutes. This chutney should be cooked until it no longer runs from the spoon! Immediately pour into prepared jars and seal airtight. It goes perfectly with fondue when the time comes again in winter!
