Apple jam

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 700 g apples
  • 700 g applesauce
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. clove powder
  • 5 drops of bitter almond flavor
  • 500 g gelling sugar 3:1
  • 50 g raisins, as desired
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

with cinnamon and cloves

Wash the apples, quarter them, core them, and finely grate them. If you like chunky jam, you can also coarsely grate or finely chop the apples. Place the apples in a saucepan with the applesauce, cinnamon, clove powder, lemon juice, and bitter almond flavoring. If you like, you can also add chopped raisins. Now add the gelling sugar, bring to a boil, and simmer for a good 4 minutes, stirring constantly. Rinse 5 400ml jars or 4 500ml jars with boiling water and fill with the boiling-hot jam. Screw the lids on tightly and turn the jars upside down for 10 minutes. Then return them to their normal position and label them if desired. Store the jam in a dark, cool place. It tastes delicious and the spices give it a slightly Christmassy flavor. If you don’t like applesauce, you can also use 1.5kg of apples. If you want to use gelling sugar 2:1 or 1:1, you either have to reduce the amount of apples accordingly or increase the amount of sugar.
