Apple sauerkraut with apple sauce

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 shallot(s)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 250 g sauerkraut, fresh
  • 200 ml vegetable stock
  • 1 pinch of chili powder
  • 1 pinch(s) paprika powder
  • 2 tbsp applesauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Finely chop the shallot and sauté until translucent. Then add the sugar and let it caramelize. Deglaze with the sauerkraut. Then add the vegetable stock, chili powder, and paprika, and season with salt and pepper if desired. Stir in the applesauce and add the bay leaf. Let the cabbage simmer for 15 minutes. This cabbage goes well with mashed potatoes and Nuremberg sausages.
