Applesauce, with a twist

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 kg apple
  • 1 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 100 g red wine or grape juice
  • 4 tbsp cranberries, from the jar
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 cloves

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Finely chop the onion. Peel, core, and dice the apples. Sauté the onions in oil. Add the apples, sugar, and cloves. Pour in the red wine or grape juice and bring to a boil. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Then remove the cloves and puree the compote. Stir in the cranberries and bring back to a boil briefly. Sweeten to taste. This applesauce tastes delicious with pancakes, potato pancakes, and vanilla ice cream, but also with lamb or game!
