Asian Nashi – Meat Stew

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g pork fillet(s) (cut into thin strips)
  • 2 onions (diced)
  • 1 stalk(s) leek, (cut into thin strips)
  • 2 carrots (thinly sliced)
  • 2 fruits (nashis)
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 tbsp rice wine
  • 1 tbsp meat broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 clove(s) garlic, (finely chopped)
  • salt and pepper
  • Oil (sesame oil or soybean oil)
  • 200 g rice (Basmati)

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Combine soy sauce, rice wine, meat or vegetable broth, cornstarch, garlic clove, sugar, and a pinch of pepper. Add the pork fillet and onions to the pot along with 1 grated nashi and mix well. Let stand in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. Remove the marinated meat from the broth and fry it in a hot pan with sesame oil. Then add the chopped vegetables (leeks, carrots), 1 sliced ​​nashi, and the broth. Cook briefly; the vegetables should still have some bite. Serve with cooked rice.
