Asparagus to melt in your mouth

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 1 kg asparagus, white
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar
  • Salt and pepper, black from the mill
  • 1 dashes lemon juice
  • e.g. butter flakes
  • e.g. herb butter or garlic butter, in flakes

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) with the baking sheet. Peel the asparagus and trim off the woody lower ends. Place the asparagus on a large piece of double-folded aluminum foil and sprinkle with a generous pinch of sugar. Add a little salt, freshly ground pepper, and lemon juice. Cover generously with knobs of butter (about 2/3 regular butter and 1/3 herb butter). Alternatively, you can also use garlic butter. Fold the whole thing into a nice parcel and place it on the hot baking sheet in the oven for about 30 minutes. The cooking time varies depending on the thickness of the spears and the quantity in the parcel. 500g per parcel has proven to be optimal. If you like, leave the asparagus in for longer, until it is lightly browned.
