Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g beans, green, from the jar or fresh, cooked and firm to the bite
  • 200 g bacon, streaky, diced
  • 1 tbsp flour, slightly heaped
  • some stalks of savory, or 1 tsp dried
  • 1 tbsp margarine, for sautéing
  • some salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp cream, to refine
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), diced

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

hearty side dish

Place the beans in a sieve and collect the liquid. Melt the margarine in the pan and fry the diced bacon until translucent. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté both for 3-4 minutes. Add the flour, stir, bring to a boil, and deglaze with a good cup of the cooking liquid. Season with salt, pepper (carefully), and savory. Add the beans, simmer gently until the bacon is tender, season to taste, and finish with cream.
