Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes
for about 48 moist cookies with Christmas spices
Wash the apples, quarter them, remove the cores, and cut into cubes. Fry in a saucepan with a tablespoon of butter and a pinch of cinnamon for about 2 minutes. Let cool. Melt the butter in a small saucepan on the warm stovetop. Stir in the sugar and let it melt slightly. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) or 180°C (fan oven). Beat the egg in a bowl until light and fluffy and stir in the slightly cooled butter and sugar mixture. Mix the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla sugar and gradually add. Finally, stir in the fried apples. Place the dough in walnut-sized heaps on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies for about 12 minutes. I made 3 small trays with a total of about 48 cookies; the apples make the cookies very moist.
