Instructions
Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest time approx. 8 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 8 hours 45 minutes
WW – suitable baked apple jam
Soak the raisins in rum and let them soak overnight (!). Roast the sliced almonds without fat until golden brown. Peel and core the apples, and cut them into small cubes. Mix the apples with a little water or apple juice in a saucepan and simmer for about 5 minutes until soft. Stir in the raisins, almonds, vanilla extract, cinnamon, citric acid, and gelling sugar. Bring everything to a boil and simmer gently for about 4 minutes. Immediately fill prepared jars and seal. Tips: Adding the roasted almonds shortens the shelf life of the jam, as they can go rancid. To avoid this, you can replace the almonds and rum with Amaretto. If you don’t like raisins, you could replace them with figs. If you replace the rum with apple juice, even younger children can enjoy the jam.
