Baked cabbage dumplings

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g white cabbage
  • 100 g ham, cooked
  • 50 g wild garlic
  • 500 g potato dumplings
  • 200 ml vegetable stock
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 200 ml whipped cream
  • 150 g mountain cheese, e.g. Gruyère
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Shred the white cabbage into coarse strips. Dice the onion. Cut the wild garlic into strips. Dice the ham. Grate the cheese. Heat 1 tbsp of butter. Add the onion and cabbage. Pour in the stock. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. Then add the cream and simmer uncovered for another 5 minutes. Season with lemon juice. Preheat oven to 225 degrees Celsius (425 degrees Fahrenheit). Fry the dumplings in 1 tbsp of heated butter until golden brown. Grease a baking dish with the remaining butter. Mix the cabbage, dumplings, wild garlic, ham, and half of the cheese and add to the baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes.
