Baked cheese sandwiches

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 slices of white bread (thin slices)
  • 8 slices of cheese (Emmental or Gouda), thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of cooked ham
  • 2 eggs
  • 50 g butter
  • some flour
  • 100 g cheese (Emmental), grated
  • some oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Whisk the eggs. Spread 4 slices of white bread with butter and place them side by side. Place 1 slice of cheese on each slice, 1 slice of ham (previously coated in egg), and another slice of cheese on top. Cover with an ungreased slice of white bread. Gently press each sandwich together and coat in flour, egg, and finally in the grated Emmental cheese. Fry in a pan with hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Serve with a fresh salad.
