Baked feta Greek style

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 200 g feta cheese, seasoned or pickled in herbs or plain
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 handful of basil leaves
  • 3 tbsp, heaped bell pepper(s), cut into strips or Puszta salad
  • salt and pepper
  • olive oil

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

I always use pre-seasoned “grilled feta” in an aluminum tray. However, you could certainly use plain feta and marinate it in oil or spices beforehand to give it a good flavor. Thinly slice the onion and fry in a little olive oil over moderate heat. Meanwhile, chop the basil and mix it with the bell pepper strips. Season to taste with salt and pepper. When the onions start to become translucent, add the vegetables and fry until golden brown. I let them only brown slightly. Then keep warm. Bake the feta in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) with fan for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned. Now arrange the cooked feta and top with the vegetables. Serve hot.
