Baked meatballs

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper, black
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 4 m.-sized tomatoes
  • 150 g medium-aged Gouda
  • Fat for the mold
  • a few stalks of basil

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Finely dice the onions. Knead the ground meat, onions, eggs, breadcrumbs, and seasonings together thoroughly. Form small, flat patties. Heat the oil. Fry the patties in it. Slice the tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Coarsely grate 1/3 of the cheese. Slice the rest. Grease an ovenproof dish and layer the patties, tomato slices, and cheese. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake under the hot grill for about 5 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle the basil over the dish before serving.
