Baked potatoes with bratwurst

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 bratwurst, coarse
  • 2 tbsp butter for frying
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 500 ml meat broth, strong, hot
  • salt and pepper
  • 750 g potatoes, boiled and peeled
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • Parsley
  • Fat for the mold
  • Breadcrumbs for the mold

hearty casserole grandma’s style

Brown the sausages in 2 tablespoons of melted butter, then remove from the pan. Sauté the flour in the clarified butter and pour in the hot stock. Cook thoroughly, then season with salt and pepper. Slice the potatoes and add them to the sauce. Let them simmer for a short while. Wash and chop the parsley, and mix in. Place a thick layer of potatoes in a greased, breadcrumb-covered dish. Halve the sausages and place them on top of the potatoes. Arrange the remaining potatoes on top. Sprinkle the casserole with breadcrumbs and drizzle with melted butter. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Serve with a mixed salad. Tip: If you have leftover gravy, you can use it to refine the potato sauce.
