“Mjaso po-franzusky”, Ukrainian cuisine

Pound the minute steaks thinly with a meat tenderizer, season with salt and pepper. Brush a baking dish with oil, place the steaks in it, and spread with mayonnaise. Top with thinly sliced onion rings and tomato slices, and sprinkle generously with grated cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat). Tip: Sometimes the meat is topped with fresh mushrooms. This dish is on the menu in many restaurants in Ukraine. Mayonnaise is often used in Ukrainian cuisine, not only in salads but also for topping or marinating meat. The reason for this is simple: Ukrainian mayonnaise is slightly more acidic and contains mustard, making it ideal for frequent use in the kitchen.
