Balkan sausages

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 2 sausages, coarse
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 250 g tomatoes, peeled
  • 1 small can of tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder
  • some oil
  • some Tabasco

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Finely chop the bell pepper. Slice the onion. Chop the tomatoes. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Remove the pot from the heat and let the sausages simmer for a few minutes. Then remove, pat dry, and fry in a pan. While the sausages are frying, heat the oil. Briefly sauté the bell pepper and onion slices. Add the tomatoes. Mix the tomato paste and ketchup with the spices and a little water, stirring constantly. Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes and season to taste. Place the sausages on plates and top with the vegetables. Serve with hearty farmhouse bread or rice.
