Baking: Surprise Marble Cake

the batter

  • 200 g Soft butter
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 4 piece Free range eggs
  • 325 g Wheat flour type 550
  • 1 piece Vanilla pod (pulp only)
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 100 g Roasted almond sticks
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 25 ml Milk

the curd mass

  • 500 g Quark 40%
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 1 piece Egg free range
  • 50 g Dark couverture or other chocolate
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Semolina

the batter

  1. Make a heavy batter from the ingredients listed above (WITHOUT milk) and place three quarters of it in a greased and crumbled loaf pan. Pull the dough up by the edges so that a hollow is formed.

  1. Melt the couverture in a water bath and mix it with the other ingredients. Pour this mixture into the well and smooth it out.
  1. Mix the rest of the batter with the milk and use it to cover the quark.
  1. Bake the cake in the preheated oven at 160 degrees for approx. 60 – 70 minutes. (Toothpick sample)
  1. After cooling, sprinkle with a mixture of cocoa and powdered sugar and chill in the refrigerator for at least three hours before serving.
