  • 450 g puff pastry
  • 100 g almond(s), flakes
  • 250 g poppy seeds (baking poppy seeds)
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 100 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of clove(s), powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 250 g butter, liquid
  • 250 ml water
  • 100 g honey
  • 300 g sugar
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 3 carnations

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 35 minutes

Thaw the puff pastry. Grease a baking dish (approx. 30 x 20 cm) with butter. Divide the puff pastry into 4 pieces. Roll out one piece of the dough on a baking sheet. In a bowl, combine the flaked almonds, poppy seeds, breadcrumbs, sugar, clove powder, and cinnamon. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Spread some melted butter and some of the poppy seed mixture on the layer of puff pastry. Then add another layer of puff pastry, butter, filling, etc., but finish with a layer of puff pastry. Bake in the oven at 190 degrees Celsius until golden brown. For the syrup, bring water, honey, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves to a boil in a saucepan, stirring constantly, and simmer for about 10 minutes until a syrupy consistency forms. Pour the still-hot syrup over the baklava, which is also hot. Let it sit for a few hours.
