Sprats on bread with tomato and dill

Sprats can be found in most supermarkets with an international section on the “Eastern” aisle. Riga or Memel sprats are ideal for this dish. The tails of the sprats can be eaten. If you don’t like them, you should use Memel sprats, as they are already without the tails. One jar/can is enough for several loaves of bread. To prepare, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the slice of bread and spread the desired number of sprats on it. Cut the tomato into thin slices and spread it on top. Garnish the snack with dill and serve. It’s important not to use low-fat mayonnaise, as this is very different from the original flavor. The tomato can also be substituted for a fresh cucumber. The bread is a popular snack at celebrations in Russian-speaking countries.
