Banana dip

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 bananas, (fully) ripe
  • ½ cup of cream cheese or quark or solid yogurt (10%)
  • 2 cm ginger
  • 6 seeds cardamom, green
  • 1 tsp, leveled cinnamon powder
  • 1 pinch of chili powder, if desired
  • 1 tsp, heaped powder (mango powder) or 1 tbsp tamarind paste or lemon juice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Honey

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Dip for grilled food or as a spread

Mash the bananas with a fork. Stir in cream cheese, quark, or yogurt. Press the ginger through a garlic press and stir into the mixture. Crush the cardamom seeds in a mortar and pestle and stir in with the cinnamon, salt, chili powder, and mango powder. Let stand for 10-15 minutes. Sweeten with honey, if desired. If you are sensitive to heat, taste the mixture before adding the chili powder, as the ginger is quite spicy. Mango powder/tamarind puree serves as an acidifier and can be replaced with lemon juice or omitted. If you replace the cream cheese, quark, or yogurt with 0.5-1 l of milk, you’ll have a wonderful banana milk.
