Super delicious pastries that you can only get in Basel!
Mix the yeast with the sugar. Warm the milk and melt the butter in it. Combine all the dough ingredients and knead until the dough pulls away from the work surface and your hands and forms small bubbles when cut. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size. Divide into pieces and roll them into oval shapes, about 15 cm long. Make four, opposite, approximately 5 cm long crosswise slits. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for 30-60 minutes until doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Mix the egg yolk and water, brush the Lenten tart with it, sprinkle with caraway seeds, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
