inexpensive and delicious
Sift the flour into a bowl and make a well in the center. Crumble the yeast into the well and mix with 1/2 cup lukewarm milk, 2 teaspoons of sugar and a little flour to make a yeast starter. Cover the yeast starter and let it rise (approx. 15 mins). Mix the yeast starter with another amount of flour. Spread 1/4 liter of lukewarm milk, the remaining sugar, the melted butter, the eggs and the salt on the edge of the flour and mix everything with all the flour and the yeast starter to form a smooth dough. Beat the dough until it bubbles. Cover and let rise in a warm place for approx. 1 hour (until it has doubled in size). Then form 8 equal-sized dumplings from the yeast dough and let them rise, covered, for approx. 15 mins on a floured baking board. Place the steamed dumplings in a pan or pot with approx. 1 large cup of water and approx. 2-3 teaspoons of salt. Cover and steam on low heat for about 15-20 minutes. Serve with a vanilla sauce without cooking. Enjoy!
