Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g flour
  • 30 g cornstarch
  • 75 g butter or margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • e.g. coconut oil or oil for frying
  • n. B. Powdered sugar for sprinkling
  • 250 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Puff pastry cookies

Mix the flour and cornstarch. Bring 250 ml water and butter or margarine to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat, add the flour mixture and stir until the dough forms a ball. Return to the heat and stir for a few minutes until a white coating forms on the bottom of the pan. Transfer the ball of dough to a bowl. Beat in the eggs one at a time until the batter is shiny and falls from the spoon in long peaks. Transfer the batter to a piping bag fitted with a large star nozzle. Heat the coconut oil in a large pan to 180°C. Pipe the batter in rings onto greased parchment paper and drop them into the oil in batches. Bake the Strauben for about 2 minutes on each side until golden brown, remove and allow to drain. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar.
