an old dish from grandma’s recipe collection

Cut the potatoes like boiled potatoes and cook in a little salted water. Drain the potatoes and mash them with a little milk. Fry the ham cubes in the butter until slightly browned, add them to the mash with the grated cheese, and stir in. Season the dish with salt and nutmeg. Add a little more milk, if desired, to make the mash nice and creamy. Pour the mixture into a buttered casserole dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes. Then remove the casserole dish, make a well in the center of the mash, add two eggs, and bake for another 10 minutes.
