Ingredients

  • 200 g Peeled almonds
  • 400 g Flour
  • 1 Orange
  • 0,5 packet Baking powder
  • 120 g Sugar
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla sugar

Instructions

  • Lightly toast the almonds, let them cool down. Wash the orange thoroughly, rub the peel, squeeze out the juice. Mix the flour with baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt. Knead in the 4 eggs and 2 tablespoons of orange juice and the almonds.
  • Cut the dough into quarters, form a roll at a time, place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper, press down lightly. Do the same with the other dough quarters. Brush the rolls with the beaten egg yolk.
  • Bake the rolls in a preheated oven at 160 degrees for 20 minutes. Brush with the rest of the orange juice while still hot, cut into 1 cm thick slices and lay them out wide on baking sheets, bake for another 15-20 minutes. Let it cool down well and keep it airtight.
