Blackberry – Apple – Jam

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg blackberries
  • 1 kg apples, unripe
  • 1 liter of water
  • 1 ½ kg sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Place the blackberries and the unpeeled, sliced apples in a pot with the water and bring to a boil. Allow to cool briefly and then pass through a sieve. Only then add the sugar and boil again, stirring frequently, for about 30 to 45 minutes until the mixture sets. (To test for settling, pour a little hot jam onto a plate and let it cool. If it sets, the jam is ready; if not, it needs to cook a little longer.) The unripe apples help the jam set very well. While the jam is still hot, fill it into cleaned screw-top jars. The high sugar content is necessary so that the jam is not so sour due to the unripe apples. However, you can reduce the sugar to suit your taste. This recipe can easily be halved.
