Blacky's Mediterranean herb salt

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 3 tbsp rosemary needles
  • 12 leaves of sage, fresh
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 kg sea salt, coarse

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest period approx. 35 days; Total time approx. 35 days 20 minutes

for 4 small screw-top jars

Peel the garlic and slice thinly. Pick the rosemary needles and finely slice the bay and sage leaves. Layer all ingredients in a large screw-top jar and shake vigorously. Close the jar tightly and let stand for about 4-5 weeks, shaking vigorously once a day. After 4 or 5 weeks, grind the salt in a mortar, grinder, or multi-purpose bowl and pour portions into the 4 small screw-top jars. It tastes great with all salads, in quark, and with fried potatoes. It also makes a wonderful seasoning for meat. Tip: It also packs well in small shakers, wraps attractively, and gives as gifts.
