The advantage of this method is environmental friendliness. If the dirt is small, you can use a sponge and baking soda to remove it.

If the kettle is very dirty, there is a way of cleaning it: put the kettle in a pot and pour water with baking soda up to the edges in the proportion of 5 g of baking soda per 1 liter of water. Boil for 30 minutes, then turn it off until it cools completely. Then take a cloth rag and carefully scrub the surface of the dirt. Important: This cleaning is applicable only to the metal kettle.

You can also resort to household chemicals. The advantage here is quick – you do not need to rub the kettle with a sponge for a long time – all the greasy traces on the surface will dissolve quickly.

How to get rid of a thick layer of scale – step-by-step instructions

If the kettle has not been washed for a long time, it means that a thick layer of scale has accumulated in it. It can be removed this way:

  • Pour a spoonful of baking soda into the kettle and pour water;
  • boil the solution and pour it out;
  • a spoonful of citric acid poured into the kettle and pour water;
  • boil for 30 minutes and pour it out;
  • mix half a cup of vinegar with water and boil in the kettle for 30 minutes;
  • remove the remaining scale with a damp sponge.

After such a procedure, the scale should easily come off the walls of the dishes.

How to get rid of scale in the kettle without citric acid – simple tips

You can use potato or apple peels. They will help to soften the scale and facilitate its removal:

  • put the skins in the kettle;
  • pour a little water;
  • turn off after boiling and let stand for three hours;
  • Pour out the water and clean the scale with a damp sponge.

After this environmentally friendly way of cleaning, the dishes will not smell of chemicals, and the water from the kettle can be consumed immediately. You can also pour 100 ml of vinegar and 1 liter of water into the kettle. Allow the solution to boil. If the scale does not come off, then repeat the procedure until it is completely clean – this is 10-15 minutes.

The above methods are suitable for cleaning both enameled and metal kettles.
