yeast dumplings, yeast dumplings
Dissolve the yeast in a little lukewarm milk, mix the remaining ingredients. Then stir in the milk and yeast. The consistency should be very firm (add more milk or flour as needed). Cover the dough and let it rest. Once it has risen, knead out any bubbles. Form about 3 dumplings and let them rise again, covered. Fill 2 pots with salted water, bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low (the water should no longer be boiling!). Add the beautifully round dumplings and let them stand for about 20-25 minutes. Then remove from the water, slice with string, and serve. Tastes great with creamed mushrooms or simply on its own with a cinnamon and sugar mixture.
